How To Do Morticia Addams Makeup
Bonjour mon cheries!
Joli here with another update-this one of the nerd variety!
AnimeFest2013 has come and gone and boy howdy has it been a whirlwind result! Forth with Commodore Sanders-i of my cosplay partners, I did an Addams Family unit cosplay! I was cosplaying Morticia and well-until early Friday morning(the first day of the convention!!!!!) I hadn't made the outfit withal! And I needed it for Sabbatum!
AHHH!
Merely, I exercise some of my best piece of work Under Pressure(one of my favorite songs too! Dear Freddie and David Bowie!) so please join me as I revisit making my Morticia cosplay!
Not bad for 3.5 hrs of work!!
Now, I already had all of the material, thread, etc that I needed to put the outfit together, and I watched Ditty Dazzle or Ase0esA's (depending on where you detect her!) video on how to brand the dress-and LOVED the way information technology broke things downwardly- and used that equally a base for my own styling of Morticia'south dress. I had a dress that was the basic shape that I wanted for the gown, so I used that and had added some of my own modifications and the like, which I put in to my dress that she didn't practise to her'southward. I've added a long zipper downwards the side seam on the right(like shooting fish in a barrel out!), tied on wrist dangles and modified the 5 plunge of the neckline, and then it has more than of a curve and is off the shoulder-which is more than flattering to my body blazon.
Honestly I feel so bad, I've been such a procrastinator about this-and I'thousand normally so good about getting cosplays done well before the beginning of the convention! So here'south how I bankrupt down a costume that should accept taken me all 24-hour interval into almost three.5 hours. Now, I accept a rotary tool and lath AND a sewing machine and allow me tell y'all-that really cuts downward on the time! Manus sewing can take forever-by experience believe you me!
To begin, I had v yards of black performance fabric-that's the stuff leotards are made out of-and went ahead and cut off one total 1000 and prepare that bated for later. I used this later to brand the tentacles at the lesser of my apparel. Adjacent thing I did was fold the remaining four yards in one-half lengthwise and so in half again width-wise. This style, when I cut out the dress "pattern" I merely had to exercise information technology one time. I pinned together the tops of the shoulders and the entire left side, while leaving the bottom half on the right side pinned to the zipper. And so taking my arm measurements from my shoulder to my duke and so again at my bicep, elbow and wrist, I used white chalk to sketch out a sleeve pattern before cutting and pinning the sides together. Outset to finish with the shaping, cutting, and pinning of the fabric took about an hour and 40 minutes.
Once everything was pinned, I ran everything through the sewing automobile one time only getting everything together and so again taking it in places where it needed it, all of which took well-nigh a total of well-nigh 50 minutes.
The side by side part-which was past far the easiest thing to do was besides ane of the more fourth dimension-consuming. I took the yard I had ready bated and folded it in half width-wise so in half over again lengthwise. Using the same white chalk as before, I sketched out a series of triangles for the tentacles at the bottom of her wearing apparel. At present, my original programme for these was to take 8 to ten all around the bottom of the wearing apparel with a wire within to keep them out and away from my feet. But as I fabricated this Friday forenoon, I didn't accept fourth dimension to go the wire that I needed, so I kept them limp-more than similar the black and white TV series. Afterwards cutting out the tentacles, fastened them and so made the adjustment to the neckline. All in all, this part took about an hour. Here'southward what the pinnacle of the wearing apparel looks similar on!

Hurdy Gur!
